			<title>Sounds Like Minded with Chris Mergemekes, Air date January 25, 2013</title>
			<description>The second installment of live performances. The show starts with the Steve Kimock Band recorded live in Texas. Next is a mighty soulful version of The Weight by the Band featuring the Staples Singers, recorded live for the The Last Waltz. Next is Traffic's 40,000 Headmen recorded in 1970. The second segment kicks off with Vinyl, a great Bay Area funk-soul-latin-groove band, with Moonshine Heather recorded at the Great American Music Hall in 2002. Next is Howard Wales and friends (with Jerry Garcia) recorded live in Boston at Symphony Hall in 1972. Finally the show ends wilth the ultimate live funk track by TOP, better known as Tower Of Power, from the album Live and In Living Color, "Knock Yourself Out," featuring amazing solo leads by Lenny Picket and Chester Thompson. The show kicks off with the funky soul classic, Tramp, by Otis Redding and Carla Thomas. Next is Chevrolet, from blues-roots master, Taj Mahal. Other selections include The Traitor, by Herbie Hancock, Tombo In 7/4 by Airto, B3 Master, John Patton's B &amp;amp; J (Two Sisters), TNK from 801 LIve, Unauthorized, from Bill Laswell's Material, UB40 in Dub, and The Headhunters' If You've Got It, You'll Get It, Medeski Martin and Wood's Whatever Happened to Gus, and finally a show stopper of chart toppers - Jimmy Smith, Zoot Sims, Kenny Burrell, Clark Terry, BB King, Illinois Jacquet, Roy Haynes, and Joe Newman, all together recorded live at Yankee Stadium in 1972 playing "Ode to Billie Joe" from an album called "Newport In New York - The Jimmy Smith Jam/ Vol. 5. We must do this again.</description>

			<description>Happy New Year!  After a 2 week Holiday hiatus, it's great to be back.  For the first show of 2013 I present lots of funky groovy stuff. The show kicks off with Zim Zam Zoom by B-3 master,  Ron Levy.  Then gets into some heady bass jazz with Victor Wooten's Flex from his album Palmystery. There are also songs by Satan &amp; Adam, James Brown (a birthday nod of sorts to David Bowie), Freestyle Fellowship, Parliament, Herbie Hancock, Jeff Beck, and Trey Anastasio's Surrender to The Air.</description>

			<description>This date marks the tenth show of Sounds Like Minded. What a great experience it has been playing this great music for you all. Lots of classics in this one. The show kicks off with a funky version of "Gangster Of Love," by Jimmy Norman and moves on to "Your Love Is Like A Cancer," by Son Seals, born in Arkansas, burned down Chicago with some fiery guitar. There's also tunes from Funkadelic, Charlie Hunter's Pound for Pound live, Leon Parker's "Ray of Light," Jimmy Smith, James Cotton, The Meters, and the show closes out with a beautiful song called "Lullaby," by the World Saxophone Quartet with African Drums. 			<description>The show opens with an awesome live version of Dreams by the Allman Brothers Band from August 22, 1992 in honor of Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts who both celebrate birthdays this month.  Also a memorial tribute to Frank Zappa, who passed around this time in 1993 - Pound For A Brown performed by the Zappa band on Feb 25, 1978 and Peaches En Regalia performed by Phish on New Year's Eve 1993, just a couple of weeks after FZ's passing.  We also hear live performances by Joshua Redman's Elastic Band and Santana-McLaughlin from the Love Devotion Surrender Summer tour.  And there's a lot more...</description>

			<description>Part II of the Jimi Hendrix Birthday tribute kicks off with Jimi and band paying homage to a couple of his blues heroes - versions of Mannish Boy/ I'm A Man by Muddy Waters/  Ellis McDaniels, better known as o Diddley, and Born Under a Bad Sign popularized by Albert King.  The show moves on to covers of Bob Dylan - All Along The Watchtower, performed live at The Isle Of White Festival in 1970 and Drifter's Escape from the South Saturn Delta album.  The second part of the show includes covers of Jimi Hendrix songs by Sting and John McLaughlin, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, Medeski Martin and Wood, and Derek and the Dominos live at the Fillmore in NYC in 1970 (sorry, no Duane Allman).  Man, that was fun, can't wait to do it again next year!</description>
